Tennis Overview

Reston Association (RA) is proud to offer 50 outdoor courts including 8 clay and 24 lighted for evening play. RA offers one of the most extensive tennis programs in the Washington metropolitan area that suits every age and experience level. Whether you are looking to just play, meet someone new, improve your game or all of the above, our tennis lessons, drop-in play, leagues and tournaments are great opportunities to do just that.

Group Lessons

We offer lessons for all ages and abilities 3 years through adult. For more information on class descriptions and seasonal offerings go to WebTrac.

Private & Semi-Private Tennis Instruction

Private Lesson Rates

  • Private (Members): $74/hr.

  • Private (Non-Members): $79/hr.

  • Semi Private/person (Members): $40/hr.

  • Semi Private/person (Non-Members): $44/hr.

Tennis Facilities & Court Availability

Hours of operation for tennis and are sunrise to sundown on unlighted courts.

Operation for lighted courts is sunrise to 11:00 p.m. except for Shadowood 3 & 4 (10:00 p.m.)

How to Reserve a Tennis Court

  • Players must place their Recreation Pass or key tag and racquet (or racquet cover) on numbered hook-on courtside gates. Failure to display either racket or cover and membership card or key tag means court is not reserved.

  • Players reserving courts must remain courtside while waiting to play.

  • Players may not reserve courts while playing.

  • One member may reserve a court to use a ball machine or ball hopper.

  • Reston Association may reserve courts for lessons, tournaments, junior activity, league play and court rentals.

  • Courts are only available on site unless you are an organization with a reservation in advance.

Who May Use the Courts and Priority of Play

  • Recreation Pass holders.

  • Guests must have a guest pass and be accompanied by the host pass holder.

  • Court Monitors will periodically ask players to scan recreation passes and guest pass.

  • Rules enforcement, RA staff, court monitors will enforce the rules of court play. Failure to adhere to the rules will result in loss of court privileges.

  • Reston Association instructors are the only persons permitted to give lessons on a fee-paying basis on RA courts.

  • Court changes are made on the hour for singles and every two-hours for doubles

  • when other players are waiting.

  • Players who use the court for a fraction of an hour must vacate on the hour when others are waiting to play.

Adult Leagues, Drop in Play & Tournaments

Drop in play

This type of play is a great way to meet new people at a 3.0 – 3.5 levels of play for doubles and mixed doubles.  Bring a can of balls and enjoy!  Click here for locations, days and more information.

Tournament

Pro Shop

The RA Tennis Pro Shop carries the latest in equipment from Babolat, Head, Wilson & Yonex and shoes from K-Swiss, and Fila.

The Pro Shop will work hard to provide you with everything you need to play the best tennis. If there is something that we do not have, we will do our best to find it for you.
